CCIW 2006 Christian Camps in Wales
As you may know, a number of our youth will be travelling to Wales this Saturday (19th August) to attend their first or second CCIW camp. Our church have been associated with these camps for over 15 years now and this year we are taking as many campers as we did last year. Hereβs who is going!
Campers: Georgina, Sasha, Julia, Lila, Ole, Jessica, Stephen, Luke and Ben
Officers: Daniel & Sarah, Mark & Debbie, Jonathan, Ralph
Take a good look at them today! They wonβt quite look the same when they return. They will be tired and dirty but hopefully they will still have smiles on their faces!
The aim of the camp is to present the Christian faith to young people in the context of a safe & healthy outdoor camp environment. The programme will include a morning service and tent a Bible study every day except Sunday, which is kept special with 2 services and a quiet programme in between.
This year the congregation raised over Β£300 to help contribute to the costs of the holiday and travel. This was most gratefully received. We continue to ask for your giving, but this time through prayer. Last year, a number from the fellowship met each morning of camp to pray for the different activities. Others also prayed regularly during their quiet times. For all the officers on camp, this was a great encouragement to know that prayers were being prayed and being answered. Please continue to pray this year. Below are a few items that you could remember;
Please pray for safe travelling. Most of the children will be travelling on the train with at least 2 adults on both Saturdays either side of camp. The remainder of the adults and children will be travelling by car. Please pray for the campers. There are approximately 105 altogether. Pray that they may make friends and settle into camp quickly. Pray that they may learn much through camp and be spoken to through the gospel. Please pray for the officers. There are reportedly over 40. Please pray that each may be walking closely to the Lord, particularly before camp when this can sometimes be a testing time. Also pray that there may be a good unity amongst such a large group and that each may be a good witness to the campers. Please pray for Rob and Jane Plant who have overall responsibility for the camp. Please pray for Norman Gilbert as he presents the gospel each day to the children. He will be focusing on Elijah. Please pray for the officers as they lead bible studies from Mark chapter 10. Please pray for the safety of all the campers as they participate in a variety of activities.
These are just some of the things that you could remember in prayer. No doubt, the officers will be in contact during camp week and the list will get even longer as we continue to share specific items.
Practical matters Cakes This week, if you were able to make a cake for camp, that would be great. These would be for the officers and campers each day. It could be any cake you wish. If you would like your container back, please label it. Please could you give your cakes to either Daniel or Sarah by Thursday to take to camp and hopefully there will be some left by the time they get there!
Sleeping bags & roll mats We still need one sleeping bag for one of our campers. Please could you lend this to Daniel by Thursday if you have a spare one. Any spare roll mats may also be useful.
Once again, thank you for your kind donations and prayers. We look forward to coming back after camp and sharing all our news and photos with you.

The Wider View β SAT7 TV - Israel and Lebanon continue pummelling each other in light of an impending ceasefire resolution. SAT-7's Debbie Brink says Friday's assault made it nearly impossible for people to navigate the roads, prompting them to close their offices. They've since re-opened, but, "The biggest single issue for everybody still continues to be fuel. The roads have been bombed, but they can get there if they have fuel. Brink says the dedication of their staff speaks loudly. "Continue to pray for safety, and for encouragement for our staff, for provisions, for food, that fuel would get into the country, so that they would be able to get around and that the programs can continue to be assembled and broadcast. We really want to be a beacon of light in the Arab world."
