David said “teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). If we understand eternal death by sin in Adam, we will have a greater appreciation for the gift of eternal life in our Lord Jesus Christ. If we understand the frailty of physical life, we will have a greater appreciation for the certainty of spiritual life that God gives to His people. William Jay expressed how fragile our life is when he wrote “Think of your pulse, where the question is asked sixty times every minute, whether you shall live or die.” So given the frailty of human life, “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth (Prov. 27:1). And given the brevity of human life, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:6-7),
“God never means less than he says, but he always means far more than we think he says.”
Charles Spurgeon
A JUST SALVATION
When we come to peace with God it is not over the ruins of a broken law, but we come to the Holy God in a holy way. Sinners are forgiven in a righteous way. The unjust are reckoned as just in a just way. There is no restraining or covering of the justice of God. It is completely satisfied. He is just, but He is the Justifier of him that believeth in Jesus. What a joy it is to look on the holy, perfect character of our Redeemer. If there could have been found a fault or flaw in Him, He would not have been a suitable Substitute. If He had committed a single sin, He could not have taken our sins upon Himself, nor could He have paid their penalty and put them away. Give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.

GODLY PARENTS, AN OBEDIENT CHILD, A FAITHFUL PREACHER
I was recently told that my seven-year-old grandson sits with his parents during worship services with his Bible in his lap, and follows the minister as he preaches.
Three remarkable things here come to my mind. First is godly parents ascertaining that their child regularly hears the gospel. Second is an obedient child following the example of his godly parents in a worship service. Third is a faithful preacher declaring the gospel so simply that even a child can follow him.

My grace is sufficient for you…” 2 Corinthians 12.9
Oh, my soul, have you ever found anything else to be sufficient? Have the pleasures and glories of the world ever been satisfying? Has your righteousness ever made a comfortable bed to rest on? Has your faith provided a firm foundation, strong against the howling winds of trouble and doubt? Have your talents and gifts made you a useful worker in the Kingdom of God? Oh, soul, confess it! Tell it out: all of these have proven faulty and insufficient. There is only one sufficiency – the grace of God. God’s grace is as great as God, Himself. Sooner could the ocean prove too little for a small fish or the sky be too small for a swallow than the grace of God prove insufficient for one of God’s people. Not all their weaknesses, failures or sins can use it up. Yes, my soul, it is sufficient for even you.
