‘FREE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ATTACKS CIVIL PARTNERSHIP LEGISLATION.'
The Derry Journal, Tuesday, 6 December 2005.

A Derry Free Presbtyterian Minister has hit out at the gay civil ceremonies legislation calling it a "mixture of horror and dismay" and branded it as a “wicked parody of a divinely estabshed institution."
Reverend lan Brown said in a statement: "Those who value the sanctity and uniqueness of marriage view the Civil Partnership legislation that has been foisted upon our country with a mixture of horror and dismay. No matter what deceptive packaging is used to present it, this new legislation, granting homosexuals almost identical rights as married couples, is gay marriage in all but name. As such, it is a wicked parody of a divinely-established institution."
The first ceremony under the Civil Partnership Act will take place in Derry on December 19th with six more ceremonies provisionally booked in the coming months. The law states that couples must register with local councils and unlike marriages the signing of the legal partnership papers does not need to happen in public.
"Perverse"
Reverend Brown went on to say in the lengthy statement: "Men are not meant to be romantic partners for men, nor are women for women. To call a union of two persons of the same sex a Marriage" (or to confer upon it parity with marriage in the form of a 'civil partnership) is perverse.
"The pictures beamed into our living rooms of the loving, caring ‘gay couple’ who want to both 'celebrate their love for each other' (and 'protect their legal rights' through the vehicle of this Civil Partnership Act) cuts no ice with God. His verdict is that homosexuals know nothing about love, but instead share ‘vile affections’ (the terms employed in Romans 1:26, where the word translated ‘vile’ means ‘filthy, dirty, evil and dishonorable')."
“The reason why we are saddled with the Civil Partnership Act is because our nation has abandoned the Bible. In Romans 1:19-32, God traces the root cause of the practice and popularisation of homosexuality back to a departure from, and rejection of, the Bible. This is one issue to which the church must speak with a clear voice. Only a return to biblical principles will safeguard the future of our nation and rescue it from moral catastrophe."
David McCartney from the Rainbow Project in Clarendon Street said:
“Reverend Brown, in his statement has made reference to religion and this issue is not a religious issue. It is a human rights, an equality and an inclusion issues and they are the corner stones of democracy and without those we have nothing. Democracy needs to be for everyone. The whole selective use of the bible is a weapon of mass distraction. Reverend Brown states that we abandoned the bible but this is a multicultural country with people who follow religious bodies other than Christ."
Mr. McCartney continued: "To say that this is an attack on the institution marriage? Civil partnerships and the institution of marriage are two very different things and if there are problems within the institution of marriage then the Church needs to look at those and see what action needs to be taken. The reality is, this is about inclusion and equality and not about domination over one section of the community and Human Rights have to be protected, for everybody."
"A momentous dayâ€
Shaun Morrin also of the Rainbow Project said: "This is a momentous day for the gay community and society in general and we should all be celebrating equality. There is a great feeling within the gay community and everybody should welcome this and the protections that go with it. However, I think there are people who think that all the gay couples will heading to the Guildhall now to have ceremonies, but it's not like that. There are plenty of people who are waiting until next year and planning for the future. We have been celebrating the new legislation and I think that everybody should."
Messrs. McCartney and Morrin have each denied the sovereignty of God, and are thus called 'fools' by God. We don't expect either to learn anything from this site, because Scripture teaches us that unbelievers do not have the ability to comprehend Scripture. We might as well speak to these men in a foreign language that they don't comprehend. Give them some time for the homosexual-spread diseases to begin to become apparent in their country, and they'll consider changing their position, just as people in Canada are now doing! A scientific study was just released in Canada (reported last week in this site) again confirming that homosexuals have 20-year shorter lifespans than heterosexuals. The very real cost of lust . . . and eternal hell on top of that! What's "gay" about this picture??
