Thanks for your regular prayer support. We greatly appreciate it!
Androe Kampoe: Androe Kampoe is abour 40 minute drive frou our home. The leadership of the main church approved starting services in Androe Kampoe, and authorized money to build 10 benches and a simple pulpit. Kalow Palata finished the benches and was working on the pulpit this afternoon. Liz spent the afternoon with our key lady Mowka in helping her reach out especially to young ladies. Rudi Edeling, who is my age, and is Saramaccan, went out with me to invite people to church. There are several different groups of Bush Negroes in Suriname. We have worked primarily with the Aucaans. The other large group is Saramacan. Most of the people at the camp are Saramaccan. We plan to start services next Sunday at 5 pm. We would appreciate your prayers.
Church independence: Ronald Talea, who is the man primarily working on church independence, is often sent to other countries for conferences. We have been back in Suriname one month, and he has gone overseas three times! However, he sent me paperwork today which may allow him to turn in the report for the main church to the government when he returns in a week. That would be wonderful, and I would appreciate your prayers there as well.
Wedding: Jerrel Pinas and Fabiana Aminta were married yesterday. Both are young people saved and growing up in our churches. Fabiana is the first young lady from Winti Wai church to get married who has basically grown up in the church; Jerrel grew up in the main church. The service was a God-honoring service held in the Winti Wai church building. This is the first service where I have not had a significant role. John Naingie led the service, Kalow Palata preached, and Winston Zeeman, the senior pastor of Winti Wai, conducted the actual marriage ceremony. All did an excellent job, and it was a joy to sit and see the Lord use them in His service.
Death: We were saddened by the unexpected death from sickle cell disease of a young woman who had been in our church during some of her teenage years. Fortunately she and most of the family are Christian. They had started in our church, but most are in a local Pentecostal church. An older sister is still in our church in Sunny Point.
