Call to Worship
With broken heart and contrite sigh
A trembling sinner, Lord, I cry
Thy pard'ning grace is rich and free
O God, be merciful to me.
I smite upon my troubled breast
With deep and conscious guilt oppressed
Christ and His cross my only plea
O God, be merciful to me.
Nor works nor deeds that I have done
Can for a single sin atone
To Christ, the Lord, alone I flee
O God, be merciful to me.
And when the redeemed from sin and hell
With all the ransomed throng I dwell
My raptured song shall ever be
God has been merciful to me.
(Tune: "Doxology")
Too constantly murmur will cause you to lose your creditability as a believer.

OBEDIENCE
Pastor Todd Nibert
"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46). While we are not saved by our personal obedience, we are not saved without our personal obedience. Christ is to be obeyed. The Gospel is to be obeyed. The Truth is to be obeyed. Faith without obedience is not faith at all. Love without obedience is not love at all. Repentance without obedience is not repentance at all. Worship without obedience is not worship at all. Faith is obedience. We read in Romans 1:5 of "obedience to the faith." Love is obedience. "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15). Repentance is obedience. "God commandeth all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30). Repentance is obedience to that command. Worship is obedience. "To obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams" (I Sam 15:22). The wise man summed it up like this, "Fear God and keep His commandments: this is the whole duty of man" (Ecc. 12:13).
If we would remember that we live among people who are imperfect, we would not be in such a fever when we discover one another's failings. Old cloth will tear and cracked pots will leak. Blessed is he who expects nothing of poor flesh and blood, for he will seldom be disappointed. The best of men are only men at best.
- C. H. Spurgeon
THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH
Nehemiah 8:10 "Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
Although we sorrow over our sins, our sorrow should not exceed our joy in the Lord for his mercy to such sinners as we; and let us send that gospel that brought us so much joy in the LORD to them for whom nothing is prepared. If the gospel of Christ can make a sinner like me joyful in the Lord, it can make another sinner joyful in the LORD as well.
