Call to Worship
Now to the Lord a noble song!
Awake, my soul! Awake, my tongue!
Hosanna to His holy name,
And all His boundless love proclaim.
The spacious earth and spreading flood
Proclaim our wise and sovereign God;
And thy rich glory from afar
Shines bright in ev'ry rolling star.
But in His cross a glory stands,
The noblest labor of His hands;
The saving mercy of His grace
Outshines the wonders of all space.
Grace! ‘Tis a sweet, a charming theme,
All earth rejoice in His dear name;
God, in the person of His Son,
Has all His mighty works outdone.
(Tune: Doxology)
Note: The men will meet in the Pastor's study on Wednesday and Sunday nights for reading and prayer, thirty minutes before service starts.

THE SIMPLICITY OF THE GOSPEL
C.H. Spurgeon
God be thanked for the simplicity of the gospel. The longer I live, the more I bless God that we have not received a classical gospel, nor a mathematical gospel, nor a metaphysical gospel; it is not a gospel confined to scholars and men of genius, but a poor man s gospel, a ploughman's gospel; for that is the kind of gospel which we can live upon and die upon. It is to us not the luxury of refinement, but the staple food of life. We want no fine words when the heart is heavy, neither do we need deep problems when we are lying upon the verge of eternity, weak in body and tempted in mind. At such times we magnify the blessed simplicity of the gospel. Jesus in the flesh made manifest becomes our soul's bread. Jesus bleeding on the cross, a substitute for sinners, is our soul's drink. This is the gospel for babes, and strong men want no more.
THE BIBLE IS NOT EXAGGERATION
Rev 22:6 "And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done."
Many books have been written over the ages, and to some degree they are exaggerated. The Bible is not among those books; it is the book of Truth from Genesis to Revelations. I know that when natural men read the Word of God, when they read stories about the flood or the parting of the Red Sea, they think that it is a little exaggerated. The more intellectual a person is, the more exaggerated it appears to him; the natural mind cannot receive the things of God for they are foolishness unto him. Let me give you just a few things in the word of God that are not exaggerated: (1) God is, and He is the only God that is. He is holy and just, merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in redemption. (2) God sent His Son into the world to redeem sinners. (3) He came into this world through the womb of a virgin; He became flesh and dwelt among us. (4) He performed many miracles; He raised the dead, healed the sick, and gave sight to the blind. He fed five thousand with a boy's lunch. (5) He established an everlasting Righteousness for His Elect by His obedience. (6) As their Substitute, He died under the curse of the Law of God. He put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. (7) He arose from the dead for their justification; He is not dead but risen and seated at God's right hand. Salvation from sin, death and hell is all in Him. (8) He shall return. "...This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1:11 (9) The destruction of all things is sure. Every thing that is outside of Christ will perish, just as every thing outside the Ark perished in the flood. None of this is an exaggeration.
