THE LORD IS MY PORTION
By John Newton
From pole to pole let others roam,
And search in vain for bliss;
My soul is satisfied at home-
The Lord my portion is.
Jesus, who on His glorious throne,
Rules heaven, and earth, and sea,
Is pleased to claim me for His own,
And give Himself to me.
His person fixes all my love,
His blood removes my fear;
And while He pleads for me above,
His arm preserves me here.
His Word of promise is my food,
His Spirit is my guide;
Thus daily is my strength renewed,
And all my wants supplied.
Let worldlings then indulge their boast,
How much they gain or spend;
Their joys must soon give up the ghost,
But mine shall know no end.
(Tune: Majestic Sweetness.)

WAITING ON THE LORD
Pastor Henry Mahan
Psalm 27:13-14 "I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."
The great missionary, Judson was in the mission field for seven years without a single convert. Someone said, "He should give up and come home!" He waited on God and the Lord blessed him with many hearers and believers!
True faith believes and waits on the Lord.
True faith remains faithful and waits on the Lord.
True faith prays daily and waits on the Lord.
True faith witnesses to all and waits on the Lord.
True faith works the field and waits on the Lord.
True faith will not bind the Lord God to a day, a month, or year, but will wait on the Lord.
I think you will all see that free forgiveness to sinners is very conducive towards one part of a true character, namely, readiness to forgive others, for he who has been forgiven much himself is the very man who finds it easy to pass by the transgressions of others. If he do not so he may well doubt whether he has been himself forgiven; but if the Lord has blotted out his debt of a thousand talents he will readily enough forgive the hundred pence which his brother owes him.
-C.H. Spurgeon
God's Word is always true whether men believe it or not. It is unchanging and unchangeable. However, when it is mixed with faith in those who hear it, there is always a change made in them. Faith makes the truth of God a reality to their souls. If you and I have God's gift of saving faith, then the Holy and sovereign God, and the exceeding sinfulness of sin, and God's Christ, and His sovereign, free grace are not merely theological facts to be held on to and used in theological discussions, they are veritable realities! And those truths hold on to us! We could no more deny these truths than we could our physical existence. These are not merely religious truths to us, this is where we live. This is our life. We live in the light. We live by faith.
-Pastor Maurice Montgomery
If we cannot believe God when our circumstances appear to be against us we do not believe Him at all. We trust a thief as far as we can see him; shall we dare to treat our God in that fashion?
-C. H. Spurgeon
John 6: 67-68 "Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."
