Call to Worship
By Don Fortner
O Christ, our Hope, our Strength, our God,
You have redeemed us by Your blood;
Through You alone we're saved from sin;
You've proved Yourself the sinner's Friend!
Often when gathered in this place,
You've come with tokens of Your grace,
And blessed the preaching of Your Word,
O come again, beloved Lord!
Enter our hearts and show Your face;
Abide with us, dear Prince of Peace;
Come now and make each heart Your own,
Your house, Your temple and Your throne!
Keep us from grieving You with sin,
Subdue our lusts and reign within;
Abide with us for evermore;
Make us abide in You, our Lord!
(Tune: "The Doxology")
"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."

WHAT IS IT TO WAIT UPON GOD?
To wait upon God means I cannot see the way out of this difficulty, but I SHALL see it. I do not yet perceive God's plan for my deliverance, but I shall be delivered. I do not know how bread shall be given me, but I shall have it even if God has to send ravens with it or rend heaven itself in twain. I shall have His promise fulfilled, and I shall wait His time. ~C. H. Spurgeon
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God" (I Peter 5:6). "Keep yourselves in the love of God" (Jude 21). "Save yourselves from this untoward generation" (Acts 2:40).
How do we humble ourselves, keep ourselves, and save ourselves? How? . . . by being under the Word of Truth, the gospel, which is the humbling, keeping, saving power of God. If we, by God's grace, will keep ourselves under the sound of God's Word, It will keep us humble. If we, by God's grace, will keep ourselves under the preaching of the Gospel, it will keep us mindful and assured of God's love to us. If we, by God's grace, will keep ourselves assembling together with the saints who worship God in Christ, we will be with the chosen generation, saved from this modern, religious generation, which more and more appears to be reprobate (untoward). If we are humbled, loved, and saved, it is and shall be by God's sovereign grace. But the only way we know it, is, "if we continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the Gospel, which ye have heard" (Col.1:23).
Brethren, these are not vain words . . . it is your life! God's Word is the Word of life! Your life is at stake and that of your children. So, humble yourselves . . . keep yourselves . . . save yourselves. . . for the time is short. ~Pastor Paul Mahan
"MY TIMES ARE IN THY HANDS"
Psalm 31:15
Don Fortner
"MY TIMES" - They change and vary from day to day; but they change only in accordance with his unchanging love. They vary, but only according to the purpose of him in whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning. "MY TIMES" - That is to say, my ups and my downs, my health and my sickness, my prosperity and my adversity, my wealth and my poverty, my happiness and my sorrow, all of these are in the hands of my Lord and Redeemer, who arranges and appoints the length of my days and the darkness of my nights according to his wise and holy will. My times of refreshing and my times of depressing are in the hands of my God and Savior; and I AM GLAD THAT IT IS SO.
"MY TIMES" - All of them, in the beginning of life, in the course of life, and in the end of life, "are in thy hand". The close of my life is no more at the disposal of fate, or chance, or Satan than the beginning of my life. My life shall not close until the hand of my Father's love closes it. I will not die before my time; and I will not be forgotten and left on the stage of time too long. I want you to get the sense of this - Not only are we in the hand of the Lord, but everything that surrounds us is in his hand. All the people, things, and events which? make up the environment of our existence are in the hand of our God. Child of God, this should bring comfort and joy to your heart. WE DWELL IN THE PALM OF GOD'S HAND! We are absolutely at his disposal. And everything that concerns us is arranged by his hand.
MAY THE LORD GRACIOUSLY ENABLE US TO ENTER INTO THE PEACEFUL REALIZATION OF HIS GOOD PROVIDENCE. "Cast all your care upon him, for he careth for you." It is written, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH, is everlasting strength".
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee!
