With temperatures only reaching the -27 mark most of the week, this weekend felt like a real heat wave hit us when it actually got up to -12. It felt like spring on Saturday as we visiting the kids who come to Sunday school. It was great to be outside and yet be able to feel your fingers and toes (and all at the same time). Despite the cold we had a great weekend serving the Lord.
One Sunday a month we teach and preach on Salvation in both Sunday school and the preaching service. Our church hands out invitations all month long inviting the unsaved to come and hear the gospel. Today was that day. Several visitors came including four first time visitors. Several others who come on regular basis but who have not accepted Christ also came. One young lady who came for the first time knows a little English and told Carol that she was very interested in knowing more about Christianity. She actually brought her own Bible and said she reads it often. Carol and another girl in the church talked with her for a while and she said she would come back next week. Please pray for the people who came that the word of God would do the work in their hearts that we cannot do. Pray that these people would be convicted of sin, and see their need to repent.
Sunday night, like always was a great time with our church. After the service we had the traditional Baptist cake and ice cream social in honor of January birthdays. Pray for the church members, some are going through battles and others are facing big decisions. Pray that they would allow the Holy Spirit to lead them, and that they would resist Satan's attacks. I am confident that if we pray then God will work. Please keep Carol and me in your prayers as well, that the Spirit would guide me in every decision and that He would have His way and will in our lives.
