How blessed is this place
Where our Redeemer God
Unveils the glory of His grace,
Unveils the glory of His grace,
And sheds His love abroad.
And sheds His love abroad.
Not all fair palaces,
To which the great resort,
Are once to be compared to this,
Are once to be compared to this,
Where Jesus holds His court.
Where Jesus holds His court.
The King Himself comes near
To bless His saints today;
With joyful hearts we gather here
With joyful hearts we gather here
To preach, and praise, and pray.
To preach, and praise, and pray.
Give me, O Lord, a place
Within Thy blest abode,
Among the children of Thy grace,
Among the children of Thy grace,
The servants of my God.
The servants of my God.

BIRTHDAYS
Chip Holbrook January 22nd
The promises of God, "said one man, "are like the clothes we wear; if there is life in the body, they warm us, but not otherwise. Where there is living faith, God's promises afford warm comfort." Thus we can say with Luther, "Although I am a sinner, yet I despair not; for Christ, who is my Redeemer and righteousness, liveth. In Him I have no sin, no fear, no sting of conscience, and no fear of judgment. In Christ there is no condemnation. I am indeed a sinner as touching this present life, but I have a righteousness of God which is above this life, who is Christ my Lord. In Him I rejoice."

THE STRONGEST MAN
(Mark 3:27)
"No man can enter into a strong man's house...." Our house (heart) by birth, nature and practice is spoiled by Satan at his will; controlled by our sinfulness at its core and is without hope of any internal rescue by the works of this flesh or power of the will. We are, for lack of a better phrase, internally bound by our vile and corrupt nature! We must have some one who is stronger than the law of sin which binds us, stronger than the person of Satan which holds us captive at his will and stronger than the nature of depravity! Bless the Lord oh my soul....God's strongest Man comes into the heart and conquers them all! Spoils them, over-rules them, is victorious upon them and nothing can ever change the attack and reign of grace upon one of His elect sheep. 'Spoiled,' I like that and most of all, because of that I adore Him who did so because He loved me from the foundation of the world.
Oh, how I long to be rid of this flesh and one day sit and worship Him un-hindered and wonder at the workings of this 'strongest of Men'.

How often have we heard someone say, "You need to count your blessings"? This is said whenever some calamity takes place or someone is feeling sorry for himself and is down in the dumps about something. As men begin to "count their blessings," they invariably start counting their cars, their houses, their health and that of their family, jobs, husbands, wives, friends, etc. All these things have their place, I'm sure; and we are truly thankful for them. But when the saints in the Bible "counted their blessings," their COUNTING was always different from ours. "They departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name" (Acts 5:41). They counted suffering shame for Christ to be a blessing! They also counted whatever was gain to them to be but loss, to be dung that they might win Christ. They counted it a blessing to give up all, to count it all loss for Christ, their Lord.
Paul, when counting his blessings in Ephesians 1, started counting election, God's eternal love, God's predestinating purpose, God's glorious sovereignty, Christ's blessed redemption, and the effectual work of the Holy Spirit. He counted being chosen in Christ before the world began and being accepted in the Beloved to be the CHIEFEST BLESSINGS. Maybe we need to rethink this thing of "counting our blessings."

DIVINE PARADOXES
Copied from Don Bell's Bulletin
The wiser we get, the greater fools we become (I Cor. 3:18).
The stronger we grow, the weaker we are (II Cor. 12:9-10).
The more we possess, the less we have (II Cor, 6:10)
The more completely bankrupt, the more freely forgiven (Lk. 7:42).
The more utterly lost, the more perfectly saved (Matt. 18:4).
And the more like a child, the greater in the kingdom of heaven.
