Prayer For The Wider Area:
Sundanese church-planting - Bandung, West Java
Two years ago, in the small village of Talegong, over 100 Christians were burned out of their homes when the Religion of Peace closed down a unregistered prayer group meeting in a private home and then burned all the homes around it. The West Java church-planting team, Asih Pamitran (a fellowship of love), led by Pak (Mr.) Nunu continues to focus on this poor population trying to help them out in long term ways.
Already several thousand US dollars has gone towards these burned out Christians, and this was needed for the immediate stage of crisis, but now long-term sustainable strategies are needed.
The team has been working on a number of long-term sustainable initiatives these last few months trying to get this poor population back on its feet:
One family was relocated and is planting coffee in another village where the team works.
Siti and Erni are working with the women and children of Talegong to press the leaves of a fragrant plant to make perfume and are also planting more trees to increase business in 3-5 years doing the same.
Fish ponds have been dug for both better nutrition for the population and also to sell the excess.
A roof tiling factory has been built to gather clay and fire this clay in a kiln to make the characteristic red roof tiles that are used throughout the island.
Pak Nunu, the leader of Asih Pamitran, and his wife Ibu Lena are already schooling 3 children of poor Sundanese Christian family (Dede, Agustinus, and Rohaeti who all want to become evangelists to the Sundanese).
Now, we add one more child Anisa, this month. The reason. Her Muslim parents cannot control her and they want Nunu and Lena to adjust her behaviour problems. Anisa's father is Toni, who has been a hater of Christians and very hateful to Ibu Lena for years now...but now is becoming more open and is asking many questions.
Team Asih Pamitran is also trying to fix Ajat's broken down roof (last time I was there you could see the sky from the living room).
Also, the team is also trying to fix the roof of Ajat's parents who are now also becoming open to discuss the Gospel and to be prayed for.
