CALL TO WORSHIP
Thou art THE WAY, to Thee alone
From sin and death we flee;
And he who would the Father seek
Must seek Him, Lord, by Thee.
Thou art THE TRUTH; Thy word alone
True wisdom can impart;
Thou only can inform the mind
And purify the heart.
Thou art THE LIFE; the open tomb
Proclaims Thy conquering arm;
And those who have their trust in Thee
Nor death nor hell can harm.
Thou art THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE;
Grant us that WAY to know,
That TRUTH to keep, that LIFE to win,
Whose joys eternal flow.

WINNING CHRIST
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” (Philippians 3:8)
The word translated win means to gain. The way of God for His people is to lose everything so that they may gain. The believer loses my rags of righteousness to gain the perfect righteousness of Christ. The believer loses my sinful works to gain the perfect, finished work of Christ. The believer loses my standing in Adam to gain being found in Christ. The believer loses my spiritual “wounds and bruises and putrifying sores” (Isaiah 1:6) to gain health and eternal life in Christ. The believer loses the bondage of the law to gain the freedom of grace. The believer loses the temporary to gain the eternal. The believer loses the fleshly to gain the spiritual.
God’s way for us to trust Christ alone is never loss. It is always gain.

GOD’S CHURCH – HIS FAMILY
God’s church is His family. That makes church membership a great privilege and a serious responsibility. Every believer ought to identify himself with a gospel church, joining himself to the membership of the body of Christ in the area where he lives (Acts 9:26). In doing so, he makes a public commitment to the cause of Christ. Such a commitment means that he will devote himself to the worship of God, the edification, peace, and welfare of God’s saints in that place, and the support of the cause of Christ through the ministry of that assembly to which he has, by the grace of God, been united. The neglect of these privileges is an assertion that he considers the worship of God, the people of God, and the ministry of the gospel in that place, a worthless, contemptible thing.

INABILITY
"No man can come to Me, except it were given unto him of My Father," (John 6:65). Notice the word 'can.' It means ability. It could just as easily be translated, "No man is able to come to Me." It does not say, "No man may come." If you have a will to come, you certainly may. Yet, no man has the spiritual ability to come. A lost man may feel guilty concerning many things, and even have a measure of conviction. However, a lost man is never convinced of his inability. He holds out hope that he will one day do whatever it is he needs to do to secure his salvation. He does not see his own inability. Yet, when God the Holy Spirit convicts a man of sin, he is made to see that not only his acts are sinful, but he lacks the ability to do anything but sin. Repentance is seen to be as unattainable to him as perfect obedience to the law. It is only when a man is convinced of his own inability that he will cry for mercy. Sovereign mercy is his only hope, because all doors are closed! Only when we have no ability can we see His Almighty ability to save.

“GRACE and TRUTH came by Jesus Christ.” John 1:17
These two are inseparably joined together. We cannot have grace without truth nor THE TRUTH without grace. "Grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom. 5:21). The grace which saves sinners is not moral weakness nor a sentimental gesture, but the grace which saves sinners is grace which is (in Christ) established on the principle of AN HONORED LAW AND SATISFIED JUSTICE! (Rom. 3:23-26.) Grace does not ignore the truth of God's law and justice, nor does grace set aside their demands. Grace establishes the law and glorifies God's justice. The law manifests what is in us--sin! Grace and truth manifest what is in God--love! The law demands righteousness from us. Grace and truth bring righteousness to us. The law sentences us to death. Grace and truth bring life to dead men. The law speaks of what we must do. Grace and truth tell what Christ has done.
