CALL TO WORSHIP
Let us love and sing and wonder,
Let us praise our Savior’s name;
He has hushed the law’s loud thunder,
He has quenched the mountain’s flame.
Let us love the Lord who bought us;
He has washed us with His blood,
Called us by His grace and taught us;
He presents our souls to God.
Let us wonder - - grace and judgment
Join and point to mercy’s store;
When by grace in Christ our trust is,
Justice asks for nothing more.
Let us praise and join the chorus
Of the saints enthroned above,
All who trusted Christ before us,
“Thou art worthy, Lamb of God!”
(Tune: “Jesus Calls Us” p. 374)

PUT ON THE NEW MAN
“And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:24)
When Paul says put on the new man, he does not mean for us to make ourselves righteous or born again by what we do or don’t do. The new birth is the work of God the Holy Spirit alone. Paul means for the believer to live conducting ourselves as someone who has been born again from above. Believers are to conduct themselves like someone who has grace and forgiveness in their hearts. Be loving and faithful husbands and wives. Be wise and loving parents. Be obedient children. Be the best worker on the job. Be a neighbor who is easy to get along with. Be honest in all of your business dealings. Be kind and pleasant to cashiers and waiters and people you meet on the street.
We may have sound doctrine in our preaching services, but if our actions do not, “adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things” (Titus 2:10), no one will care what we have to say.

Christ on the cross guarantees peace of conscience, while Christ on the Throne gives peace of heart, His death cancels our condemnation, and His life guarantees our access to the very presence of God.

IF YOUR BROTHER TRESPASSES AGAINST YOU
From time to time, whether intentionally or unintentionally, believers will do something offensive or hurtful to a brother or sister. Our Savior gives us instructions on what to do in such cases. “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.” (Matt. 18:15)
If a brother or sister has done something hurtful to you, don’t just give them the cold shoulder. Do them the favor of talking to them about it and be ready to forgive them when they apologize. If you have offended a brother or sister, be ready to quickly apologize and make it right. This is one way that we can endeavor “to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Eph. 4:3)

THE BELIEVER’S EPITAPH
It used to be the custom to write an inscription on the tombstone of a departed loved one in memory of his life and faith.
On the tombstone of C.H. Spurgeon are these words: “E’er since by faith I saw the stream, Thy flowing wounds supply, redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.”
On the tombstone of T.M. Martin, who preached during the days of the Civil War, are these words: “A BONDSLAVE OF JESUS CHRIST.”
I especially like the words inscribed on a tombstone in England: “TILL HE COMES.”
After a devastating flood in which many were killed, the body of a small boy was found. He was never claimed nor identified, so they buried him and wrote two words on his grave marker: “GOD KNOWS.”
Job wrote his own epitaph. “I know that my Redeemer liveth.” He said, “Engrave this on the rock that marks my resting place.”
The Lord in Hebrews 11:13 wrote an epitaph for Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and all of the Old Testament believers: “THESE ALL DIED IN FAITH.”
