CALL TO WORSHIP
Glory be to God the Father
Glory to the blessed Son
Sound aloud the Spirit’s praises
Hail the glorious Three in One.
Glory, honor, praise, and power
To the Lamb be ever paid
May we bless Thee ev’ry hour
You are our exalted Head.
May the grace of Christ our Savior
And the Father’s boundless love
With the Holy Spirit’s favor
Be upon us from above.
Thus may we abide in union
With each other in the Lord
And possess, in sweet communion
Joys which earth cannot afford.
(Tune: “Jesus Calls Us” p. 374)
There will be a men’s lunch on Thursday at noon at Cheddar’s. All of our men are invited to attend.
The pastor’s new email address is gftate836@gmail.com
WE HAVE GATHERED IN HIS NAME TO WORSHIP HIM
The reason we have gathered here this morning is to worship our God and Savior. I hope we enjoy seeing one another and visiting together, but THE reason we are gathered together is to worship the Lord.
The word commonly translated worship in the New Testament means to kiss like a dog licking his master’s hand. We are to worship the Lord because we belong to Him. We are His dogs and we are to worship the Lord for who He is not because of what He has done for us. The leper in Matthew chapter 8 worshipped the Lord before he knew if the Lord would be pleased to heal him or not.
We worship the Lord by showing our dependence on Him to provide everything we need, spiritually and physically. We worship the Lord simply by waiting on the Lord to do His good pleasure.
We worship God from the heart, with an attitude of dependence, not by going through all of the correct outward rituals of religion. (Acts 17:25)
We worship the Lord by agreeing with everything the Lord has to say about us. Begging the Lord for mercy not merit is worshipping the Lord. (Matt. 15:21-28)
We worship the Lord by bringing an offering out of a thankful heart. (Matt. 2:11)
I sure would like to do more worshipping and have less of a religious show.
Pastor
God will take account of all your works
If anyone reading this is working in order to be saved be sure to understand, God will take account of all your works. That is right. In the great day of judgment, God will take account of all your works, whether good or evil, as sin. God will account all man’s works for salvation as coming “short of the glory of God.” There is one whose works God is well-pleased with, Christ Jesus his Son. Sinners are “justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Who God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood.” (Rom. 3: 22-25) All who are attempting to work for salvation are attempting to justify themselves from their sins by the law of Moses. Please listen to God! “By [Christ] all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” (Acts 13: 39) Salvation is believing Christ! May God give you grace to do so today. Right now you’re conscience is guilty at the thought of having not done enough. Then you will have the sweet rest and peace of conscience that only Christ can give knowing “there is no more offering for sin.”

In The Midst of Troubles
Any man or woman who claims continual, uninterrupted joy, rest, and peace in this world is either not telling the truth or has no connection with reality! True joy, rest, and peace are things we enjoy in Christ in the midst of troubles, afflictions, and infirmities. Paul’s exhortation was “rejoice in the Lord.”
When I am conscious of my weakness, failures, and sins, I rejoice in Christ, my righteousness.
When I am concerned about food, clothing, and shelter, I rejoice in Christ my provider.
When I am sick, Christ is my healer.
When I am grieved, Christ is my comfort.
When I am faced with death, Christ is my life!
So it is not necessary to put on a false face and deceive others. We are still human; but our peace, rest, and joy is Christ.
