CALL TO WORSHIP

Precious Saviour, friend of sinners
We, as such, to Thee draw near
Let Thy Spirit dwell within us
With that love that casts out fear.

Matchless Saviour, let us know Thee
As the Lord our Righteousness.
Cause our hearts to cleave unto Thee
Come, and with Thy presence bless.

Open now Thy precious treasure
Let Thy Word here freely flow.
Give to us a gracious measure
‘Tis Thyself we long to know.

Come and claim us as Thy portion
Let us all find rest in Thee
Leave us not to empty notions
We would find our hope in Thee!

(Tune: “Jesus Calls Us” p. 374)

SALVATION IS OF THE LORD

Jonah’s cry from the belly of the fish, “Salvation is of the Lord.” (Jonah 2:9) is the best news a sinner has ever heard. Salvation is not something a sinner has to earn. Salvation is the free gift of God to sinners.

Salvation is by the will of God, not the will of man. That is good news since the will of man is to not come to Christ that we might have life. (John 5:40) If it was left up to man, no one would be saved. Thank God that salvation is of the Lord’s will. “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”(Rom. 9:15) It is only by the will of God that any sinner is saved.

Salvation is wholly by the grace of God, not the works of man. That is good news since “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23) “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Rom 3:20) Thank God salvation is by grace through God-given faith. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Eph. 2:8) “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” (Titus 3:5)

Since salvation is all of the Lord, let us look to the Lord, and call on Him for saving mercy and grace, delighting in the fact that “he delighteth in mercy.” (Micah 7:18)

Pastor

“HELP! I’VE FALLEN, AND I CAN’T GET UP!”

I suppose we all have heard this phrase in the television commercial for a medical alarm and protection company. It became part of popular culture. But this phrase is also true in the spiritual realm.
“I’ve fallen!” We all fell into sin, condemnation, and spiritual death in Adam, the head of our race, when he fell in the Garden of Eden by sinning against God (Romans 5:12).

“I can’t get up!” We cannot arise from our sin because we cannot quit sinning and begin righteousness (Ecclesiastes 7:20). We cannot arise from our condemnation because our sins increase it. We cannot rise from our spiritual death because the dead cannot quicken themselves.

“Help!” This is the prayer to God from the helpless. God answers this prayer to all who believe in Jesus Christ. He raises the dead by quickening them (Colossians 2:13). He raises the condemned by justifying them (Romans 3:21-29). He raises the sinful by saving them (Matthew 1:21).

Therefore, if you see yourself as fallen, sinful, condemned, and dead, believe in Jesus Christ and cry: “Help! I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up!”

Pastor Moose Parks

For some of you, this is a time of great darkness; but in the gospel there is light for the present, yes, joy even for this moment in which you seem to be driven almost to despair. When I preach about the water of life so freely given by God, I mean just this – that all you need between here and heaven, Christ is ready to give you. All that your soul can possibly require to enable you to stand in the presence of God without fear and dwell in the bosom of God forever, made perfectly like to God by His grace – all that is in the gospel for you; and we are bidden to invite you to partake of it in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Pastor Bruce Crabtree

We who believe are so really and truly joined to Christ that we cannot possibly perish unless he also perishes. Our union with Christ is a vital life union, immutable, and indestructible.
