CALL TO WORSHIP
How rich the depths of love Divine
Of bliss a boundless store
Dear Savior let me call Thee mine
I could not wish for more – I could not wish for more.
On Thee alone my hope relies
Beneath Thy cross I fall
My Lord, my life, my sacrifice
My Savior and my all – My Savior and my all.
How great Thy wisdom, power and grace
That in redemption shine
The heavenly hosts with joy confess
The work is all Divine – The work is all Divine.
Before His face they cast their crowns
Those crowns which Jesus gave
And with ten thousand, thousand tongues
Proclaim His power to save – Proclaim His power to save.
(Tune: “Majestic Sweetness Sits Enthroned” p. 52)

WHY DOES GOD SAVE SINNERS?
The purpose of salvation is not so that sinners can have something good. The purpose of salvation is the glory of God! “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:6) God saves sinners so that He will be glorified for doing something so wonderful for sinners who are so awful. God saves the worst of sinners so that He will be glorified for His saving grace. God saves sinners so that we will bless and praise His matchless name.
Will God save you? Will God save me? He will if He gets all the glory for doing it.

GOD PARDONS INIQUITY IN MERCY AND TRUTH
“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged.” (Prov. 16:6)
The holy God can only pardon iniquity if that iniquity has been fully punished. The one and only way that is possible is through the death of Christ as the substitute for His people. Christ was made guilty of the iniquity of His people and He paid the price for that iniquity with His precious blood so that God could justly pardon the iniquity of His elect. Can you think of anything more merciful than that?!?!

OUR COMPASSIONATE PRIEST
Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity (Heb. 5:2).
Thanks be unto God for our compassionate and faithful Great High Priest, Jesus Christ (Heb.2:17). Our blessed Saviour knows our frame; He knows that we are but sinful dust (Psalm 103:13-14). But in spite of all that we are (Psalm 39:5) and all that we have done (Rom.3:23) the Lord is longsuffering and compassionate toward His children (2 Peter 3:9). So much that He loves the unlovely (Rom. 5:8), so much that Christ justifies the ungodly (Rom.4:5), so much that the Redeemer died to save sinners (Rom. 5:6). We read that His compassions fail not and are new every morning (Lam. 3:22). We read when He saw a multitude of sinners as sheep that were scattered having no shepherd, He was moved with compassion (Matt. 9:36). What a blessed Shepherd the Lord has provided for us (Psalm 23)!

WHAT GOD HAS SAID TO US IN HIS WORD IS:
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!”
What is it to call on the name of the Lord? It is to call on the Lord Jesus Christ for all of our salvation, start to finish! “Call His name Jesus: for HE shall save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21).
To call upon Him for salvation is to call upon HIM, and NOT my religion. It is to call upon HIM, and NOT my devotion as a Christian. It is to call upon HIM, and NOT my good, moral obedience to the law. It is to call on HIS will and purpose in ALL things, and NOT my will or decision in anything! It is to say: “I can’t save myself, YOU must save me! This is not in my hands, this is in YOUR hands alone! I plead YOUR finished work! I beg for YOUR abundant grace & mercy, through the shedding of YOUR own blood!” It is to believe in the heart: “Lord, I can’t even call on You unless You call on me first.” That is calling upon the name of the Lord. And the word of promise to us from our Lord is: “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
