JUSTIFIED BY FAITH

We preach salvation is by grace alone. We also preach that if you would be saved, you must believe on Christ. When we say that you must believe on Christ, we have not started preaching works (given you some work that you must do in order to be saved). You do not have to produce faith in yourself in order to be saved. As a matter of fact, you can’t do it. Salvation from its beginning to its ultimate completion is all the Lord’s doing. Romans 3:28 says “a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” God justifies His elect by GIVING them the gift of faith in Christ. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9)

The Father elected a people unto salvation. The Son purchased that salvation with His obedience and His bloody sacrifice. The Holy Spirit freely gives the gift of faith in Christ that lays hold on Christ and Christ alone. My friends, that is how sinners are justified.

The Pharisees read the scripture thinking of someone else as the sinner and themselves as righteous servants. The Lord makes his people read the Word beholding ourselves as the sinner and Christ as our only Righteousness.

AFTER HIS OWN LIKENESS

Genesis 5:3 “And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth”

All that Adam could produce was his own likeness, in other words, John 3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh…” Flesh can produce nothing but flesh. As David wrote in Psalm 51 “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Every son, and daughter of Adam are born in sin, and shapen in iniquity.

The same holds true of those born of the Spirit, John3:6 “… and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” This is more than being spiritual, it is being like the Spirit it is born of. This is the new man—new nature that is born of the Spirit which is created in righteousness and true holiness. That which is born of the flesh is not made better by the Spirit, it is a separate birth altogether. All who are born of the Spirit bear the likeness of the Spirit -- Like begets like.

PARTAKERS

Being a “partaker” can be a wonderful thing depending on WHO you are taking part with. To “partake” simply means to “take part.” It means to “share” with, to “partner” with, and to be a “companion” with someone. It means to “belong” to someone. How glorious then is the thought of being a “partaker of Christ Jesus?” “For we are made partakers of Christ...” (Hebrews 3:14)

• PARTAKERS OF CHRIST’S HOLINESS. (Heb.12:10)
• PARTAKERS OF HIS INHERITANCE. (Col. 1:12)
