Our sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Brother Dale Simpson, who the Lord called home this week. Dale was a loving husband to his wife Jackie, and a loving father and grandfather who earned the love and respect of his children and grandchildren, who will all sorely miss him. Dale was a faithful member of this congregation. His faithfulness, his obvious love for Christ and his kindness will be greatly missed by each of us. Dale’s last public words to our congregation were from Psalm 46. Verse 10 says “Be still and know that I am God.” When we don’t understand what the Lord is doing, be still and trust God who does. He is too wise to make a mistake and too loving to harm His people. When our hearts hurt in sorrow, be still and trust God whose presence comforts the heart. When we suffer loss of loved ones, be still and trust God who loves His people with a love that passes human understanding (Eph. 3:19).
THOU GOD SEEST ME – Genesis 16:13
Believer take comfort in that God sees you. God has always seen His people. They have never been out of His sight. When you were lost and could not see God, God saw you. Christ the Good Shepherd saw you and came where you were to save you. Then rest assured that He will not take His eye off of you and leave you alone now. When the night of trial is so dark that you think the darkness will crush you and you cannot see the Lord anywhere, take comfort in this: the Lord sees you and He will not forsake you. “For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)
Language Of Hope
“Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have HOPE” ( Romans15:4).
The message of Scripture is a message of HOPE to the believer; a message of salvation and deliverance from sin, death and hell. Scripture says that Christ came to . . . “deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb. 2:15). The language of scripture is a language of HOPE for all the saints. The disciples, worried about their friend Lazarus, who was sick unto death, were told by the Lord, “Our friend Lazarus sleepeth.” That eased their worries and fears. God’s Word to His people is a language of HOPE, which dispels all fear of death and dying. “Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” (John 11:26).
None have ever perished who have trusted in God’s mercy, who have believed God’s Christ. NONE! All who have “fallen asleep in Jesus,” are right now with Him where He is, beholding His glory, in eternal happiness and bliss. They didn’t ‘go to the land of the dead,’ as some say, but rather, left the land of the dead to go to the living God. Believer, HOPE THOU IN GOD! Hope in His mercy, hope in His grace, hope in HIS SON . . . and it shall be well with thee, thou shalt never die! You have God’s Word on it.
Pastor Paul Mahan
The believer is perfect in Christ, but in himself is a poor, feeble creature, ever liable to fall. Oh, the blessedness of having One who can manage all his affairs for him at the right hand of the Majesty in the Heavens: One who upholds him continually by the right hand of His righteousness: One who will never let him go: One who is able to save to the uttermost: One who is the same yesterday, today and forever: One who will bear him triumphantly through all the difficulties and dangers that surround him and finally, present him faultless before the presence of His Glory with exceeding joy. Blessed forever be the grace that has made such ample provision for all our sins in the Blood of a spotless victim and the intercession of a Divine High Priest.
