Please continue to pray for Simon with his situation regarding his employment.
Also pray for Mark Tracey with his current work situation
Pray for Mark Roper as his move date approaches.
Continue to pray for our local churches without pastors and few committed workers.
For Local Area Tunbridge Wells is the church on our Prayer Diary for the coming week. The church asks prayer for members Simeon and Liz Woodcraft as Simon takes a pastorate at New Milton in March. Please pray also concerning the churches need for more workers in evangelistic ministries.
For Wider Area The Grace World View β Mauritius Although the majority living on the islands of Mauritius are Hindu, many Hindus have come to Christ in the last 30 years. The church faces some restrictions on evangelism, but many have continued to share their faith boldly. Mauritius is comprised of 3 islands in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar. The tropical climate makes this a popular tourist destination. Approximately 1.2 million people live on the islands creating a fairly high population density. There are no indigenous people. Those of Indian origin account for about two thirds of the population. Most of the remainder are a mixture of African and European origins. Mauritius enjoys one of the most successful economies in Africa. Political stability and wise use of resources has built a strong foundation. Most income comes from exports of sugar and industrial output, tourism, and offshore banking. Mauritius serves as a tax haven for thousands of companies. At various times over the centuries, Mauritius was under control of the Portuguese, Dutch, French, and British. Mauritius gained independence in 1968 and established a parliamentary democracy that has remained consistently stable. There is freedom of religion, but there are some restrictions on evangelization of Hindus and Muslims. Hindus are the largest group, accounting for about 50% of the population. Approximately one third of the people are Christian, the majority of whom are Roman Catholic. Evangelicals have grown to nearly 8% of the population. Much of this growth has come from Hindus converting to Christianity. There are few evangelical missionaries because long-term visas are difficult to acquire. Despite the government's effort to discourage evangelism, Christians have boldly shared their faith with their neighbours, and the result has been a rapidly growing church. Pray for the churches as they grow. Pray for more pastors with adequate training. A new evangelical Bible school has opened in the islands. Pray for the school and those who attend. The supply of Christian literature has improved in recent years, but it is still not widely distributed. Pray for a greater supply and use of affordable Bibles and literature. Pray for outreach to the Muslim population. There is a significant number of Muslims, and few Christians are working to evangelize them.
