We will have a special service tonight at 6 p.m. when missionary Cody Groover will preach for us. We will have a time of fellowship following the service. A sign up sheet for food is in the vestibule. CHRIST DIED FOR THOSE GOD LOVES
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
Christ did not die for sinners to make God love them. Christ died for sinners who God already loved from eternity. Christ died to put away the sin of those God loves so that they could be brought to be with Him forever.
When the Spaniards went over to South America, they treated the poor natives so badly that the Indians did not wish to know anything about the Spaniards’ god, for they thought, from the cruelties they had suffered, that he must be a devil! And there are certain sorts of professors who are so unkind - they have such an absence of everything gentle and generous about them - that one does not want to know anything about their god, for if they are like he, he probably is the devil!

SATISFIED WITH CHRIST
“My people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 31:14).
The longer I live and the more I learn about myself the more I see that I cannot be satisfied with anything that I am or do. I am not satisfied with my works, my repentance, my faith, my love or my prayers. If I am not satisfied with me, I am confident that God is not satisfied with me! But what joy fills my soul to find my satisfaction in Christ! I am satisfied that the obedience of Christ is enough to make me righteous. I am satisfied that the blood of Christ is enough to cleanse me from all my sin. I thrilled to know that the Father is completely satisfied with Christ and that He is satisfied with me in Christ without any works of my own. I am satisfied to have my only hope of eternal life be Christ and Christ alone.
A HEART MELTING CONSIDERATION
“Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6)
O what a melting consideration is this! That…
- Out of His agony comes our victory;
- Out of His condemnation comes our justification;
- Out of His pain comes our ease;
- Out of His stripes comes our healing;
- Out of His gall and vinegar comes our honey;
- Out of His curse comes our blessing;
- Out of His crown of thorns comes our crown of glory;
- Out of His death comes our life!
John Flavel
Christians might avoid much trouble if they would believe that God is able to make them happy without anything else. God has been depriving me of one blessing after another; but as every one was removed, He has come in and filled up its place. Now when I am a cripple and not able to move, I am happier, than ever I was in my life before or ever expected to be. If I had believed this twenty years ago, I might have been spared much anxiety.
