“The 1st Petition of the Lord's Prayer” LD47/ Psalm 148
We continue to build on the foundation of prayer. Our Father for Jesus' sake! Our Heavenly Father. On that foundation Christ builds petitions. Six petitions (followed by a doxology) that are divided in half. The 1st three of them regarding our relationship to God followed by our needs and spiritual welfare, and then the affirmation of the doxology.
The name of God stand on the foreground. Instead of the name of God it point to us that God must be known in His work and virtues! The names of God show forth His glory in all of His creation. It all declares His name in His wonderful works. His works become His name! The concept of the name of our mighty God! He is chiefly revealed in His Son. God in Christ-Christ is made wisdom to us. And from Christ we can expand and see how all things declare His glory. We request that the glory of God be reflected in and through us! A petition for ourselves...may God grant me! That God may reveal to me and that I may rightly know God! That I may bury myself in the scriptures to know God and then I turn to creation and can proclaim “How great Thou art!” Things discovered to us that the world cannot see.
Once we grasp that, then the petition continues that we can order our life....orchestrate our life so that in EVERYTHING we do and say we glorify HIS NAME! We hang our head in shame here as sometimes we adopt the language of the world. “Its going to rain today...” Do we not know it is all of God?! We need to make a real attempt to see God in EVERYTHING!!! The whole of His creation with man as the mouthpiece expresses His Glory. Creation shows it forth and man speaks it!
Our lives MUST show forth the praise of the Living God ALWAYS. NOW. FOREVERMORE!!!
