Our sincere sympathy is extended to Michelle Simpson in the recent death of her brother, Scott David Hall. Our Bible School for ages 4 through high school will be held here at the church from June 8-10 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Everyone is invited to attend a picnic Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the CSX park in Huntington. Directions are in the vestibule.
Please be much in prayer about this very important time of teaching and fellowship for our young people.
If I did not believe the Scriptural teaching of election unto salvation, I would not bother to ever preach again. But since God has a people chosen unto salvation and redeemed by Christ, I am encouraged to preach “Christ and Him crucified.” I am assured that the Holy Spirit will cause His people to hear the Gospel and believe on the Son.

REPRESENTATION
“This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.” (Genesis 5:1-2).
Representation is a vital truth taught in the Word of God. Adam represented all men. What Adam did, the entire human race did in him. So when Adam sinned the whole human race sinned and became guilty. Since Adam is our representative so we also received the nature of Adam, which is a nature of sin. God sees all men as guilty and sinful because God sees us as Adam himself. God called Eve Adam because God only saw Eve in Adam. Eve was one with Adam because she came out of Adam and was joined to Adam as one flesh in marriage. This is why nothing happened when Eve ate the forbidden fruit. But when Adam ate the forbidden fruit, Eve knew that she was naked because she became a sinner when Adam her representative sinned.
Thank God He sent a second representative man. The Lord Jesus Christ is the second Adam. Christ represented all of His people. God’s elect are made righteous in Christ in the same manner in which we were made sinners in Adam. What Christ did, all of the elect of God did. When Christ obeyed God’s law, God’s elect obeyed God’s law. Since God’s elect are one with Christ they receive the nature of Christ in the new birth (II Peter 1:4). God sees all of His elect as righteous because God only sees His people as Christ Himself. And just as Eve was called Adam, God’s elect are called by the same name as Christ our Savior. God sees His elect as so much one with Christ that He calls them by the precious name of His Son, “and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness (Jehovah-tsidkenu) (Jer. 33:16).
Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear . . .
A fool will not listen because he already thinks he knows everything. A wise man knows better, by God’s grace. 1 Cor 3:18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
