After exhorting us not to neglect so great a salvation, the writer of Hebrews continues to make the case for the excellency of Christ. Unlike angels, who were never to be more than ministers to those who would inherit salvation, Christ came to have dominion over all things. Adam originally was given dominion over the things of the earth, but Adam and his descendants were not successful because of the fall. Christ, having suffered and died, received the dominion over all the works of God in heaven and on earth, a greater dominion than was given to Adam. While the manifestation of Christ's dominion is still taking place, we should not doubt that all authority has been given to Christ and He is at the right hand of the Father until all His enemies are made His footstool.
