As we go from this picture of separation from the judgment that came upon the Egyptians and the redemption from slavery of the Israelites through the plagues in Egypt, we resume in Hebrews with "we ought to give more earnest heed to the things that we have heard." This is following chapter one which makes the argument that the sending of Jesus Christ and His revelation into the world was far greater than anything that had happened before. If we consider the marvels and wonders that accompanied the exodus from Egypt, it is important that we understand how minor that was compared to the redemption that comes through Christ. In Exodus, we see a people with very little knowledge of God. No written record, because it was given to Moses later. We now have thousands of years where we can see the steadfastness of the promises and not just the promises of reward of righteousness, but also the promises of reward for sin. We see that there is both temporal and eternal reward for sin. How can we escape that reward? By not neglecting so great a salvation. God has proved His Word over and over again with signs and wonders. Are you neglecting so great a salvation?
