How sad it is that things change. How often we desire continuity in our lives. We wish it were like the old days. We wish people that have gone on would still be with us. We wish the good things of yesterday we're still with us. When families went to church on Sunday and visited all day after. How we used to walk to the corner variety store and buy a few pieces of bubble gum! We seek continuity because it echoes another world. God has sewn eternity in our hearts. The changing of the seasons come, the day and the night keep coming, and we are comforted. We cling to our routines and our traditions and they anchor us in a changing world that is becoming ever more chaotic. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, but thank God we're not! Although we need change deep inside, our embodied souls will continue in the new world. Our desire for continuity is sweetly satisfied with eternal life. And our disdain for change is replaced by the change that brings us back to the Word of God and sanctifies our souls!
