Galatians 1:3–5 (NKJV): Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Where does our peace come from? According to the Word of God, our peace comes only from Him. It is a gift that He gives, unto His own children, according to His own pleasure. All other sources of peace are illusions, they are deceptive, they are false. They promise what they cannot deliver because they are the resources of the enemy. They are the tools of the evil one. It is especially true when the church seeks to find peace in the midst of the storm by collusion with the world. The church has fallen into the trap of fearing the power of the world's opinions, of fearing its very vocal wrath… But all of the screaming social justice warriors of this fallen and evil age are absolutely powerless to harm us in any way that truly matters. But still we cave in to the world's demands that we tailor the message of God to suit it's demands. Is it because we fear the noise, the confusion, the mean words? Perhaps we fear that the culture will stop listening to us? But we need only open our eyes to see that they are not listening now, and what is more all the threats they make are nothing but empty noise and meaningless sound... Understanding that reality allows us to cease worrying about what the world thinks of us; it allows us to lean into God and trust Him for all our needs and desires. We must learn to come to HIM for the peace we so desperately need and the grace that conveys it. The simple truth of the scripture is this: the ONLY source of peace is the very grace of God which forces us to see ourselves as we truly are. There is NO path to peace which affirms your ruin as something to be held on to dearly. There is NO path to peace which tells us to continue in our sin; that whispers sin doesn’t really matter; that attests that the world and all its playthings are just fine… No, the path to peace involves surrender and submission to the God who is, and HE will deliver us from the evil age that has taken us hostage; HE will deliver us from the sin that has destroyed us; HE will bring us into a relationship with Himself, providing all we could ever need for joy, peace and fulfillment; and HE will adopt us into His own family, make us blood-bought children of the Most High God, and will take up our cause against the world. It is to life that we have been delivered by the death of Christ. It is unto life that Christ has died, and been raised forevermore. It is unto life that we strive against this culture of death, and it is unto life that God will carry us for eternity!
