Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
We have become a people who plot vain things. We set ourselves to destroy what God has called good, we defy the laws that He has established, and shake our fists in impotent rage against the very fabric of reality. We pretend that truth is fluid in the name of inclusion. We seek to create a new class system that is based on hatred in the name of equity. We proclaim that character matters less than color in the name of diversity… all of this and so much more is the declaration of war against the God who holds back destruction only because of His great mercy… all of this is the rage of idiots who believe that we can defy God without consequence. The whole of this cultural shift is an attempt to cast off God's rule, to pretend that we are free of His dominion, that WE are in fact the only god that matters and that we have the right and the power to set ourselves up as the authority over all things. Any attempt to slow the spread of this cancer with the antidote of truth is labeled as racist, white-supremacist, sexist or any number of a hundred other "-ist"s… We battle against the truth of God's law with everything that we are, and sadly, the rebellion is not limited to the world. The church engages in this madness with abandon. We ignore anything that the Bible tells us that contradicts what we want, what our "heart tells us", what our desires demand… all of this is nothing but the evidence of the disease that has crept into the marrow of our souls and slain us. Sin IS that ruin, and it puts on a million different faces every day, but they all have the same structure. And that structure is this: "What I want matters more than what God says. Period." No matter what your sin presents as, the core of it is the same rebellion. The simple fact of the matter is this: God has given His law, not to save us, for the Law can never do that; but He has given His law as a tutor to lead us to Christ. The hope of mankind is in the Gospel. It is in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Nothing but absolute surrender and repentance can save the souls of men and women, but this does not mean that the law has no place. For the law CAN guide us to peace, to joy, to meaning and purpose in our lives. The Law CAN create peace between people, and the Law CAN establish a society that is not tearing itself to shreds with every new social media trend. The Law CAN provide stability, prosperity and hope for the next generation. As the Law of God shows us the perfect standard of righteousness, it leads us to the cross, drives us to our knees and causes us to cry for mercy as we see our sin and how far from perfect our best efforts fall... We must cease this insane rush to destroy all that is good in the world, we must stop being a culture that worships death, that hates life and turns love into something that is vile and horrifying. We must turn our hearts back to the God who holds back our destruction by His mercy before it is too late and we are consumed in the outpouring of His fierce wrath!
