Psalm 37:7–9 (NKJV)7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.
It is always hard to witness the escalating destruction of the soul of our nation. It is difficult to see those who once stood courageously for Godly principles and truth to be bowing to the idols of woke ideology and hypocritical virtue signaling. It is excruciatingly terrifying to witness the fruition of evil's long, deep plans to destroy the fabric of the family. It is horrifying to know just how effectively they are succeeding in the vile work of plundering and savaging the children of this land.… but the part that should cause all who love God to fall on their knees in repentance is the way in which the church has allowed the paper tiger of social media and the opinions of the world at large to shape our practice in proclaiming the truth. There are those who name the name of Christ who have surrendered the bedrock of truth for the shifting sands of popular culture, allowing the preferences of the moment to define the truth of eternity. There are those who have, although they still cling to truth, refused to speak the truth out of fear of cancellation or reprisal. There are those who have allowed their righteous indignation to sour into hateful invective and even stooping to using the weapons of the flesh against the tools of the enemy. Few are those who respond to lies with truth seasoned with salt; grace in the path of evil, and the power of the Spirit of God to enliven and strengthen our stance… and although the problem takes many forms and shows many faces, it is nonetheless ONE main failure; it is ubiquitous and it is subtle. The problem is fear, it is worry, it is fretting… we are told that we are not to fret when we see evil prosper. We are told to not become captured in the snare of the enemy when wickedness becomes the norm. We are warned to not become angry, and to forsake wrath… and we are told that the substance of all those behaviors is the practice of fretting. This is major failure for it leads us to seek answers from sources that are not God. It leads us to trust in ourselves, to turn away from God and to fight our fight in the flesh. And this is ALWAYS a losing proposition… for this is always, and without exception, the end game of the enemy. He desires that all men turn from God and wallow instead in the scum of his own destruction. When we are taken in by his schemes we are actually joining him in his work of destruction. Remember that the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. Beloved, the answer is stunningly simple; trust in the Lord God with all your heart; cling to and proclaim His truth with perseverance; and wait patiently and expectantly for God's deliverance. The Day will come, and when it does God will set all things to rights. Until then, wait on the Lord, pray for mercy and continue to fight the good fight!
