The character of Christ should be the flavor of all that we do. There should be no time when we speak or act in any manner that is not consistent with who Christ is. In this age of constant dispute and conflict, it becomes all the more important for us to be careful of how we treat with one another. There is no shortage of people who will speak and act destructively while rebuking and hating others for being hateful and destructive. The superabundance of such hypocrisy flays the nerves raw while at the same time creating an atmosphere where it can be shared and grow in the hearts of those who listen... the anger it produces, and the backlash against its "causes" just mask the presence of its offspring to the one who is now infected with it. Add to this toxic mix the fight or flight response in us and you have a powder keg in nearly every relationship in your life... the spirit of Christ is a spirit of gentleness, He cares for the brokenhearted, He tends to the wounded and the outcast, He is the One who always knows what to say, how to say it, and even when NOT to say it. This spirit of peaceable love is not only sadly lacking, it is desperately needed. Oh, dear beloved child of God, it is our challenge, our task, our sacred calling to carry that Spirit with us, so that the fragrance of Christ is spread abroad wherever we go! So in every intersection of our day, let the glory of Christ shine from us like the noon-day sun!!!
