You want scary? In this entertainment focused culture, Kanye will probably be the 2024 Republican candidate for President. At least it would be someone who says they are a Christian. Just saying.
John UK, sanctioned is slapping her hand and saying “bad girl.” Sectioned is much more indicative of what most conservatives are thinking. But, I still think you meant the first. Lol
Well, Joel.... I suppose after Church is all right, as long as we don’t invite Doc, cuz he’ll want us to eat possum. And that’s way to greasy for me.
Well, if you please… I also Disagree with the male treatment of women, wholeheartedly am disgusted at any type of dispensationalism, not against singing just don’t call it worship if it isn’t worship. (Worship is me telling God how great He is. Praise is me telling others how great God is. Some hymns fall into that category, but many don’t.) Dunno about eating sandwiches in the song service, but whatever. If you’re hungry. And I absolutely despise the “I’m the king and unquestionable” ideology of many pastors. But, I do prefer women to dress modestly. So, even though I’m IFB, I’d probably be voted out.
John UK I would suggest that you do not possibly fit the definition of IFB. You seem to be way too Calvinistic for that. Every AFB I know, including myself, believe in salvation by grace through faith— literally, the accepation of the gift of eternal life and forgiveness of sins that Christ has freely offered. Stick with the Presbyterian moniker.
Well, Joel—you are so right. I tried the modern “identification” ideology by going to Sams Club. I told them I was identifying as a member—so I asked them kindly to refer to me as “Member Steve” and that should be good enough. But THEY seem to think that just because I say I’m something, it doesn’t mean I am. Just saying.
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:14-15)
The problem is that the media is comparing apples to oranges. I used to teach Sociology at a local college, and when the topic turned to the integration of Muslims, one thing I always liked to show was an old video I had gotten from a missionary friend of mine. It was taken in Mexico of a Catholic woman who was crawling across a cobblestone courtyard on her knees in order to kiss the feet of a statue. She left trails of blood as she crawled... Obviously in pain, but with the mindset that kissing that statue was of more importance than personal comfort. Most Catholics in America go to church on Saturday night so they won’t have to get up early on Sunday morning The correlation is this: NEVER judge an international religion by the American counterpart. Americans are lazy and focused on comfort, and don’t take God seriously… And as an aside, I would even place most believers in that category as well… Not just Muslims and Catholics.
John4 Nice as the conversation seems to be going for you, I thought I’d jump in and get tagged with all the “heretic” monikers alongside.
“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21) God has chosen the preaching of the written word to tell sinners of the living Word and the salvation He has provided to all who believe. Choosing to believe in Christ and accept the pardon He freely offered is not a work of righteousness. The Calvinists here will never understand that. Now for the insults and name calling in 3... 2... 1....
