Brian Borgman is the founding pastor of Grace Community Church. He graduated from Biola University with a B.A. in Biblical Studies. He also earned a Master of Divinity from Western Baptist Seminary in Portland, where he graduated with high honors. Brian also completed his Doctoral degree at Westminster Seminary. Brian has served as a youth pastor, a volunteer prison chaplain, and a singles pastor. Brian has a wonderful wife, Ariel, and three beautiful children, Ashley, Zachary and Alex.
In November of 1992, Brian Borgman met with Andrew Winans, a local businessman. In that initial meeting, the two talked about the possibility of starting a new church in the Carson Valley. In March of 1993, Brian and his wife Ariel met with about a dozen people to discuss the plans for the new church. In that meeting, Brian presented a well-planned strategy for the new church. September of 1993 marked a big move for the Borgmans, with the help of the Borgman's home church, Lake Baptist Church in Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Sierra Community Church in South Lake Tahoe, Grace Community Church started to become a reality.
With about a dozen people, the core of Grace was formed. The core group, which included Brian and Ariel Borgman, Andrew and Cathy Winans, Tom and Barb Keosababian, Kary and Cindy Grabow, Janis Kelly, and a few others, studied the church and spiritual gifts from the New Testament, planning all the while for "going public." March 6, 1994 was the day that Grace Community Church held its first Sunday morning worship service. For the next 2 ½ years, the church would meet at the Carson Valley Middle School. During that time the church has grown and experienced God’s blessing.
In God’s providence, the church was able to move into its own facility in August 1996, at 1426 Industrial Way. The move has opened new avenues of ministry, especially in the area of childrens ministry. As we have grown, God's providence has seen fit to provide a location where we, upon dependence on Him, built a worship facility north of our present location and oversee Grace Christian Academy Classical Christian School. It is the prayer of the people of Grace Community Church that many will come and find an anchor for their soul in an unstable world and experience the joy of knowing God and being built up in His Word.
