Wonderful Trip to Korea -- January 9th-21st Since I first went to Korea in 1995, it seemed like I always had another reason to be there. First it was for my military service and then in a fill-in capacity at the Haven Baptist church in Kunsan. As I got off the plane this January, everything was different. It was just God and me. No preformatted obligation, no plan already to guide my path, just me with a prayerful heart asking God, "What would you have for us?"
In the almost five years that I have spent in Korea, there has always been an "umbrella" that I have served under. Now as I traveled nearly a thousand miles in country my heart truly saw the 50 million people and I was renewed with my own burden, vision, and honest obligation to those people.
Where would God have us to serve? Again, this was my prayer during the trip. We are at a point now in our deputation where some direction would be helpful in planning. By the time I left, God had opened up at least seven possible doors for service. The reality that I believe God was showing is that the "need truly is great."
Our first obligation is language training. I will endeavor to obtain two years of formal training while Kristin utilizes assisted study. Please pray with us as we finalize the logistics to see this happen.
The Deputation Trail: We have been super busy since the trip. The Lord has allowed us to be in more conferences then single day meetings for the past several months, for which we are grateful. With promised support we are now on the downhill slide.
With our country's current financial difficulties before us, I would ask that you pray that promised support would be received. Pray that we would all stay faithful as the Lord has led and "not doubt in the darkness what God has revealed in the light."
We are grateful for the five churches that have recently added us to their missions family. It sure is an encouragement.
May the Lord bless you all for your continued sacrifice.
