“For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
It was not you. The Holy Spirit set us free from sin and death. It was not ourselves. God by his Spirit did the work, so he gets the credit.
Deep humility ought to characterize us, because God opened our eyes to the gospel. The Holy Spirit quickened things that we know, and gave it life. He suppressed our sin, forgave us within the conscience, and gave us joy and peace. It was not a system of learning, but a revelation. We heard what many have heard, except for us, it came powerfully and lifted us up. It was all grace.
Therefore, only one Name is exalted - our Lord Jesus Christ - by whom we have all things. It was his blood shed for our sins, and his grace received us. He sent the Spirit to our hearts, and we honor the Father through him [Acts 2:33; 1 John 2:23].
Let us never boast and seek a name, using spiritual things to magnify ourselves. Let's find our identity and our all in magnifying Jesus. We ought to be already consigned to hell, with gross iniquity ruling us. We are, however, delivered by the grace of Christ. Our own names mean nothing. Christ is all. Let others see him, and enjoy him forever. 2 Corinthians 4:15, “Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.” May his name be praised. May God give us hearts to magnify Jesus the Son of God - our everyday Savior.
