Others, however, see him as a brother who has fallen in battle. In the USA, we have a military motto, “No soldier left behind.” Americans will go through great lengths to recover their wounded and deceased. We don’t leave brothers on the field, simply because they have fallen.

If we know the depths of our sin and God’s mercy, then perhaps we weep for Lawson! He’s hurt his family and his church. I understand that some may be bitter, because they put their hopes in him for a great work in Dallas. May God give them all the healing and the comfort of the gospel.

For my own part, I want to be a brother in the corner of saints who have fallen. Whether restored to ministry or not, the shame and embarrassment is great. He knows he let many people down. He, without God’s help, is hurting from head to toe.
