"Tarry one for another." In Paul's time they had love feasts to share in one another's goods to show unity and oneness. Paul criticizes their love feast because the diversities had become divisions in the church so the poor sat with the poor and the rich sat with the rich and they perverted the love feast. Paul then chastens them for this.
Why: They were not waiting for one another but were in their "clicks" and their "groups." The distinctions the Lord put in the church had become divisions and the unity we would not have seen. Paul chastises them harshly. The factualism Paul said was despising the church of God. What a cutting judgment! After we self exanimate ourselves we too see it has to do with our sin, realizing our sin, God's holy judgment on it, and our salvation having our commonality in just that...that we are redeemed saints of God! One body through brotherly love through Christ who has before shown us this in very love and deed!! Wait for one another and tarry for each other and share what we have together in our Lord Jesus Christ!
How: It is not the external things that bind us together but we have Christ as our ONE principal and our diversity finds its common root in Christ! We are susceptible to the same thing as the church here below. We partake in common, but have differences that underline our divisions instead of partaking as ONE. What is the first thing you see when you look at your fellow saints? (Their children, bank account, gifts, etc?) Are we going to partake of a common cup of blessing at a table with covetousness in our hearts? Do we look down on those who have less or do less? Do not judge others as God will judge you the same. Read the story of the rich man. We must partake of the unity without using these very diversities between us. God will so judge if we judge and respect persons and we will in turn find no blessing.
Result: If we see each other and deal with each other as glorified saints of the Lord we will find the Lord's blessing upon us. Not using distinctions for divisiveness, but waiting and tarrying for one another to partake in the unity that we both share and have in Christ!
How do you see your brothers and sisters when you look at them? Do you see and deal with them as Christ dealt with you?
"Living Worthy of the Gospel" Phil. 1:27 We are judged in how our friends and others see us. We are epistles of God to men! They will see us as a Christian or say if that is Christianity I want no part of that! Paul says this only. Whether Paul...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
"Blessed Accusation" II Samuel 12:7&13From time to time before we partake of the Lord's supper we stand on a threshold of a few weeks of self examination. It is also a good practice to do once in a while. Definitely not an easy task as we must...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
