Awesome Message, but Dissimilar Situations This is an awesome message that every Christian should take notice of. However, if this is your 'strategy' for missions (I'm guessing you probably wouldn't call it a strategy, but more like Christians just acting like real Christians and following Jesus' commands), there is one major difference between the first 200 years and today that was sticking out like a pink bunny in a field of green grass. During those first 200 years, Christianity spread within the Roman empire. They generally had the same culture and language. Today, in order to fulfill the Great Commission, our primary focus needs to be on the 2.7 billion people who are unreached with the Good News. They mostly reside outside our 'empire' (the United States) in Asia, Middle East, and North Africa. In order to reach those people, we Americans can't just do as the Romans did and be faithful and serious about our own Christian walk where we are in order to be great missionaries. It is a different situation.
Humbling This is a sermon obviously about humility, and wow did God use it to humble me. Pastor Phillips covers counterfeit humility, true humility, and how to cultivate humility. Using examples from Scripture, this is a great reminder of what we as Christians should be striving for. Praise God!
Great wisdom needed. Nine advises about how to rebuke sin in others and how to urge them to seek holiness. A message about the need for wisdom is talking to others and in rebuking them. We must talk so to win souls, not to irritate and offend them with our mode of talking.
Efficient witness. Baxter on HOW to be an efficient witness for Christ: seek knowledge and sanctification; be sincere; feel for the sinners; don't listen to your fear; be ready; stand at the important things; fit the witness after the person you are speaking with; don't forget your family; be serious; be patient.
Searching. It is not so hard to witness; to testify is legal; you also maybe was converted because somebody testified to you; the Devil's servants are full of zeal for their master - we should not be for our?; you've lost enough time with empty talking; sinners need somebody to testify to them; you have not much time left.
9 motives Nine motives to witness about Christ before others: it is glorifying God, it is for the benefit of others and for the well-being of our souls.
Excellent! Three ways to increase our sentiment of gratitude toward God: meditate on how ugly ingratitude is; meditate to the mercies of God; meditate to how unworthy you are to receive any favor from God. Followed by 2 excellent tests to see if you manifest gratitude or ingratitude.
4 principles Another 4 principles to apply in order to have a healthful relationship with your job and your boss: to show respect, to have a good attitude, to not complain and to pray.
Incredible testament of a true missionary! As someone living in the Far East, Hudson Taylor's story in his own words is just incredible to hear. "God’s work, done God’s way, will never lack God’s supply." What an incredible concept! Thank you so much for posting these incredibly encouraging mp3s!
He being dead yet speaketh Thankyou for this information of a dear brother in Christ.
I use 3 gospel tracts based on the writings of J.C.Ryle in my outreach work.
They are 1) The value of a soul 2)Jesus the Saviour and 3)The forgiveness of sins.
They are written lovingly but firm,Ryle never watered down the gospel, repentance being mentioned ,and hell for those who die unrepentant.
Thats how highly i respect this man and his ministry.
Thankyou brother Phillips for a really good message.God bless you for 2010 if we are spared.
