Great Sermon! Also from Gurnall, ""A man's pride shall bring him low." Proverbs 29:23
Religious Pride. Some are as blind as Laodicea, and know it not (Rev. 3:17). As ignorance blinds the mind, so pride is a blind before their ignorance, that they know it not. These have such a high opinion of themselves, that they take it ill that any should suspect them as such. These of all men, are most out of the way to knowledge; they are too good to learn from others, as they think, and too bad to be taught of God. The gate into Christ's school is low, and these cannot stoop. The Master Himself is so humble and lowly that He will not teach a proud scholar."
Sadly, we see this sin of pride in many who profess Christ, even on this forum. The proud are repulsed when their sin of pride is brought to their attention, they attack their 'accusers', belittle, and continue to feed their sin of pride - to their own demise.
May the Lord keep His true sheep from this terrible sin that consumes and overtakes if left unchecked.
Great Sermon! Timely message. Pride takes root in the heart and, if left unchecked, takes up residence there. Self-righteousness often results from pride and will eventually derail all who are deluded by it.
Only God can truly humble a sinner, head knowledge never equals salvation. Praise Him if He lowers you in the dust, fear Him if He doesn't.
Friendship of the World: Enmity with God Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (James 4:4).
Great Sermon! beautiful reminder of our Blessed Lord and Savior, a great encouragement for God's elect.
Let us focus on Him, and not on biting and devouring one another, or pushing our religiosity on others. Christ is our all in all, He is what we live for, and die for if need be. Praise His holy name
Great Sermon! The best sermon ever on church unity! Love the way Pastor Martin defines church unity then explains all of the biblical reasons as to why it is important, practical and necessary. Definitely Spirit-empowered preaching. I wanted to listen to the next sermon in this series but decided to wait and let the richness of this one sink in. Thank you Pastor Martin for your dedication and love for our Lord Jesus and His church!
Wesley’s text, great! I believe Wesley’s sermon is even more important in these days and the graphic content made it easier to imagine but this music makes it cheesy and Hollywood. In praying, preaching and evangelizing it is the work of the Holy Spirit to draw souls not of “knee-jerk” provoking music.
