Finally! Finally, an African American (a historian to boot) who stands up for the Confederacy. You could drown in the evidence that the Civil War was over the rightful role of the States. On another topic, people should take the time to compare the religious beliefs of the Confederate generals to those of the Union generals. Also, many Union generals can be traced back to socialism. Supposedly, Karl Marx even stated his approval of what Lincoln (Dishonest Abe) was doing.
Peace in Christ. Good quotations from Edwards on the peace of God found only in Jesus Christ, but the message in not really teaching much bout Whitefield' and Edwards' efforts in revival.
Swertley is a gifted presenter. So does the fact that I am not convinced reveal a deep bias? If any NT passage were sung, would this be a violation? What about singing the Law or the Prophets. The Psalter is not in fact the Psalms. It is uninspired, sinful man’s attempts to approximate the inspired Psalms into singable form based on the English language. What of modern attempts to make the Psalter more singable? As good as the inspired Psalms undoubtedly are, certain hymns may well expound and describe certain attributes of God, the Trinity, and various Doctrines and issues with even greater clarity and power. While they are not canonical, who would say that their authors where in fact inspired by the Spirit of Christ within them.
Scripture is reliable and sufficient to be sure. It makes no claim to being exhaustive. I am reminded of the prophecy of Joel referred to by Peter in Acts. God loves New Wine from the sanctified creativity of zHis children guided and inspired by Scripture.
Very sobering The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ needs to be watchful and on guard against the LGBT whatever else movement. They have an agenda and they are successfully implementing it. If you can find it,
Read a book called The Stoning of Sally Kern. And listen to Voddie Baucom’s messages on - Homosexuality and Transgender - right here on SermonAudio.
Wonderful biography How wonderful it is to hear about how God used one man to advance His kingdom so much. Thank you Pastor Grant for teaching us about him.
Oh Lord please raise up more men like Thomas Chalmers at this time in history when we need them so much!
Little disappointed. Dr. Thomas is a sound and amazing Bible teacher, but there seems to be too many speculations here. Too many "if this is true...then."
Not your average student interview! I’ll call this the “2-Zach’s Interview,” because while the surnames differ — both of these students have the “given-name” of “Zach” or Zachary! I found both these students inspiring, in terms of their current work for the Lord, theological acumen and their love for church history.
Their interview together reveals the living vitality amongst the students that will be found at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary today. Theological ennui (weariness) and weakness afflict all our American churches today; but this interview reveals the Holy Spirit’s activity in GTS’s student life — and their zeal for a modern church awakening.
I sense a great love for Christ and his kingdom in this conversation, and will pray more for GPTS on that account! Thank you “Zach’s” for this compelling conversation! I found it so encouraging.
Great warning. Very good reminder of the fact that the Lord is disciplining every one of His children, in order to correct them and to bring them to repentance. It is true that the Word says that sometimes the Lord has to kill Christians who are not repenting, in order to bring them home and not to sin more and not to bring more shame unto the ministry of the church. But I do not think that Paul committed this sin unto death. He went to Jerusalem not against the will of God, but driven by the Holy Spirit (Acts 20:22-23). He was submissive to the Lord even if he knew that bonds and sufferings will await him of his way of submission. In the latter years we find Paul always in the will of the Lord, not as a man who was out of the will of the Lord, waiting for punishment.
Great Sermon! Very entertaining message. I disagree in that I believe UFO's people actually see are demonic beings. I'm not a pre-tribber either. Post-trib pre-mil is where I stand on the end times, but not dogmatic.
Great Sermon! Absolutely wonderful! The ladder going down of Christ's humiliation and the ladder going up of His exaltation. Never heard anything like that before.
Great Sermon! I have 37 years with PCA and find its attitude towards deeply disturbing.I think the gpts compounds the problem.if you ever want to take, we can set up a time. 864-625-1288 anytime. Thank you
Great Sermon! This is one of the most transforming sermons I have heard since my conversion. It brings to mind how people celebrate a child's birthday when it had no part in being born. It should be the parent that is honored.
Also, it makes me see how much we elevate a preacher above the work of the Holy Spirit who reveals everything about Christ.
Christ must be all and in all.
What marvelous teaching received by me and my friends this morning.
Praise God from whom this blessing has lifted my soul in a most humbling way exalting him.
Great Sermon! Too big for your own britches? I sometimes am (was). But this sermon erased more of my 'self' and caused me to run to the rock.
Excellently efficacious.
Thank you Holy Spirit.
Great Sermon! Thank you once more pastor McGraw.
May we have the vision Isaiah had when preaching Christ. When he is lifted up men will be drawn, warned, and perhaps converted.
Great Sermon! Thank you pastor for reminding the hearer that Christ must be grasped as all in all if we ar to have the inherent quality of eternal life.
He must be preached quantitatively, powerfully, exclusively, and graciously if we are to glorify him practically.
He becomes the fullness of Christian living.
Great Sermon! Sometimes we forget that exalting anyone, anything, or anyplace above God's revelation of Christ is dishonoring.
It is not good to popularize preachers and their accomplishments.
