What the Lord builds is forever for His glory Anointed preacher! Miss his preaching. We must all do as the Lord wants, living our lives a living sacrifice for Him. FBC was in the Lord's plan, praise the Lord! Praise the Lord for FBC being the rock upon which it is built our chief corner stone Jesus Christ!
What God Decreed David, thanks for the feedback! I'm glad this sermon proved helpful to you. To clarify my comments about the reinstated millennial sacrifices, I am merely recognizing that over time, our human tendency is to draw less significance from prescribed rituals and behavior. This is not a weakness with God, but a weakness with man. Teaching and preaching that gives proper emphasis and understanding to the Lord's Table helps to overcome this propensity. Needless to say, the sacrifices of the Millennial Temple worship system will certainly awaken sensitivity to the suffering of Christ on the cross. I trust this helps. God bless you.
Very Thorough and Concise Presentation Let me just say that I have heartfelt gratitude for the refreshing voice that Pastor Overmiller is in the Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. He does with much integrity properly represent at a basic level the Reformed position so far as I've heard. He goes through great pains to represent properly the Reformed position for the most part, though in the Baptism portion of his "Baptist Distinctives" series he did leave out crucial information regarding the Reformed position. Information that could be crucial to the understanding of infant or what William Shishko calls "Oikobaptism" (household baptism).
There are in this series so far, no meaningless diatribes against Reformed folks as being semi-heretical as some in the IFB try to convey.
The only thing troubling in this specific lecture is that he states that the reason for the continuation of sacrifices in the Millennial Kingdom is that Christ's sacrifice would have lost meaning. Is he then saying that the significance of Christ's sacrifice is based upon how much meaning His people place on it rather than WHAT GOD DECREED that meaning would be?
This is where the dangers of decisional regeneration can creep in if this is so. But I don't want to misrepresent.
Thank you Pastor Overmiller for a wonderful lecture.
Great Sermon! Great lecture on the resurrection. However the passage in 1Cor. he sites upon examination doesn't seem to teach a premil but rather a postmil outcome of history.
23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.
24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
The order that Paul speaks of is the order of the resurrection and not the order of history when one examines the verses previous to 23.
Further if it were a historical chronology then Paul would not have said 'dei gar' in verse 25 in place of the word FOR in most translations which LITERALLY means 'FOR IT IS NECESSARY' and would have used the word 'kai' in English meaning 'and.'
Therefore Paul states the purpose of the previous passage for which the goal is, for him to reign until he brings all enemies under his feet.
If the Premil view was true then the use of the word UNTIL in verse 25 would not mesh since according to the Premil view He IMMEDIATELY has all His enemies under His feet after the Second Coming. UNTIL implies a PROCESS and not a COMPLETION.
He's a phenomenal speaker, I learned a lot.
Very sobering May God turn the hearts of the fathers & mothers & all adults to the children of our nation. Satan has won too many battles in this mission field. Thank you for this very important message.
Great Sermon! May God bless you abundantly as you follow his lead into wider territory.
What you are being led to do has been my desire for the churches here in America. Churches like those in Jericho, Ninevah, Samaria, and regions unlike those in our own comfortable cities and towns.
We are just too complacent, and to the degree that the laity are anemic; undernourished, malnourished, halt, and blind and living in fear.
Thank you for how you've expressed your care for the flock over which God has made you overseer. Also, for how you are entrusting them to the care of faithful men.
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake (Psalm 115:1).
Grace To You Brother. Grace, Mercy and Peace to you and your Beloved with your change in calling. I've been blessed by your ministry via SermonAudio. Perhaps you can continue posting your preaching on SermonAudio wherever The Lord leads you. Am sure your current home church will miss you though sounds like the Lord has found a suitable replacement. Bless your replacement and his family as well look forward to listening to his sermons as well.
Great Sermon! The Lord had really opened my eyes to the dysfunctionality and aggression in non Christians around me recently. This was such a helpful message . Thank you.
