“ Do Not Add Unto His Finished Work, Amen ” Very powerful and edifying sermon dear brother John. Your message thru God’s Spirit reminded me of that lesson in Numbers 20:2-12 wherein Moses and Aaron plead with the Lord on behalf of His people to satisfy their thirst. When God instructs Moses to speak gently and ask for water from the rock at Meribah, he instead commits a similar transgression as those unbelievers who were not satisfied with flogging or a lesser sentence for Christ, but instead demanded His unjust torment, humiliation and contempt in crucifixion. Moses too suffered from this same foolishness in that he disobeyed God’s instruction and to make a show of his mastery, his “power” over the rock struck it, not once but twice! How vain, how self righteous, how defiant and foolish of our patriarch in faith. And as a result God forbids Moses and Aaron from entering the promised land with His people. As leaders acquainted with God and His ways, they should have known better and conducted themselves in a more holy and reverent fashion before the people, even as the Jewish leaders in Christ’s time should have considered His meekness, His character, His office even as Moses prophesied of Him (Acts 3:22).
“ Great Sermon! ” The meaning of a verse in Isaiah, “Lord, You will establish peace for us, For You have also done all our works in us” (26:12), would have escaped my notice had I not recently heard this sermon (esp. the parts on chapters 6 and 7 of Romans and Philippians 2:12). Around 18:00 to 19:00 minutes and 42:00 to 44:00, you will hear this theme:
When we see a good act or attitude show up in our conduct, we are watching the power of God at work.
Everything we do in the body that is virtuous and noble, is God working to make us want to do it.
Whenever we do, say, or think anything upright, God’s Spirit produced that fruit in us and is showering grace upon us through Jesus Christ.
When we get to see the completion of any good endeavor we undertook, even the desire to start and the resolve to finish were gifts from God.
We can obey because God has made us alive.
The preacher magnifies Jesus’ death and resurrection, the mission of the Holy Spirit, and God’s purpose to conform us to the image of His dear Son. Isa. 26:12 reinforces Philip. 2:12.
“ Rebar for the backbone ” --particularly for us who live in North America and the British Isles and have lived free of persecution – until recently. When one of us faces government officials who nurse hatred toward a lone voice in the wilderness (such as the prophet Micaiah) and favor the 400 religious moderates (I Kings 22) who speak with unanimity, Mr. Hey’s sermon helps us bear the hatred or public ridicule.
“ Great Sermon! ” Would that all who call themselves Christian understand the truth brought forth in this sermon. May God help us and deliver us from self-centeredness. We need deliverance from Me-itis. May God cause the blind to see what is at stake here and what awaits us in eternity.

“ Great Sermon! ” What a wonderful message on the necessity of the incarnation and the necessity of the resurrection. This gifted pastor made those things so clear and easy to understand. Anyone who wants to understand these mysteries better should listen to this sermon.
“ Reply to 'Anonymous Name' ” Again, the main focus of the sermon was not whether it is right or wrong to pledge allegiance - only that it is WRONG to force somebody to make a pledge against his own conscience.
There's nothing wrong or un-Christian in loving your country, just so long as you are ready to stand up against it when it is wrong.
The only person we can pledge allegiance to without reservation is the Lord Jesus, because He is never wrong, and He will never betray His loved ones.
“ Eternal Loyalty Vs. Temporal Loyalty ” We ought to declare our loyalty to King Jesus and His Eternal Kingdom rather than to temporal things like the American Constitution. Pledging loyalty to a piece of cloth like the American flag is idolatry in The Lord's Eyes. The American flag will vanish away, but Our Lord's Kingdom will last forever. Worth noting Colossians 3:2 in times like these.
“ God's glory is seen to be more glorious ” Some of the folklore that has grown up around Christmas is not harmless. Consider Santa Claus and the Elf on the Shelf. Men ascribe god-like powers to these pet icons. Folks vest them with superstitions. They embody man-made religion.
Why does God tolerate competitors who siphon off glory that belongs to Him? If it is to spark a sermon like this, that would be reason enough. How far more glorious the true God is in contrast to man’s best imaginary replacements.

“ Not to be missed. ” I thought the October 21st sermon was a complete, stand-alone, model of explaining why the news of salvation is such good news -- until I heard the following week's sermon.
Now I see, for the first time, why Jesus predicted (instructed) that this story will be re-told "wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world."
