Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ: The Belgic Confession of Faith was written in 1561 by Guido De Bres in the south of The Netherlands, about 50 years after Martin Luther published is Ninety-five Thesis on the door of Wittenberg Chapel. It is 1 of the 3 Forms of Unity, forming the foundation of Reformed churches. The Belgic Confession of Faith is a systematic study of the doctrines of the Bible. It was written during a time of severe persecution of Christians by Roman Catholics. De Bres was murdered by the Roman Catholics. He was publicly hanged for teaching these truths.
Today we will begin to examine the most exciting doctrine in the Bible – the doctrine of God!
Our headings are: 1. Is there only one God? 2. What is this one God like? 3. How are you to respond to this one God?
Our goals are: You will know, love, and serve God better.
