Today, we will continue our study in the book of Revelation at Revelation 18:20. In John's vision, he has just seen an extended prophecy about the fall of Jerusalem that did occur soon afterward in AD 70. Chapter 17 – 19 is an extended discourse about this. Jerusalem the harlot is spiritually called Babylon. She is aligned with Rome, the beast with the seven heads and the ten horns. In chapter 18, an angel declares that Babylon (Jerusalem the harlot) has fallen. In chapter 18 verse 9-19, the world is mourning for Jerusalem. So when we come to our starting place today—Revelation 18:20—It is rather surprising to many readers to see that God's true servants are called not to mourn but to rejoice in Jerusalem's destruction... to many it is disturbing! How are we to take this? Christians?—called to rejoice over the ruin of a great city?
