Little by Little — Victory by Degrees
So grateful for this nugget of truth...
"...And I will send [stingers] before you, which shall drive out the [enemy] from before you. I will not drive them out from before you in one year, [knowing] the land will become desolate [if I did] and the [wild] beasts of the field will become too numerous for you [to control]. LITTLE BY LITTLE I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land." (Exodus 23:27-30)
Promise land promises and principles… a foreshadowing of new covenant living.
The newer testament application of cutting off the nations that occupied the promise land is applied in mortifying the flesh, not letting it, the flesh, breath. Be blessed my friends and may we always remember... as a blood bought disciple of Jesus we fight FROM victory and not FOR victory!!!! The victory is always found in Christ's triumph over sin, Satan and the grave... to Him be the glory
God promised His people victory! But the victory He promised -- would come -- but it would come to them -- "little by little" or "by degrees." Why would it come... little by little? Because God always knows best... and He knew they needed help with the wild animals. If He were to run all the inhabitants out of the land, with the stingers, at one time, the wild beast would eventually out number His people and overtake them. So... God told them that He was going to leave some of their enemies around, and they would conquer them little by little, until His people grew strong enough in number to deal with the wild animals themselves. Yes... He promised them victory, but that victory would not come at once... it would be a daily |
