Unity doesn't mean that we must make everyone else like us. If we all had to be the same, why would we meet together at all? God has designed the church as an organism that showcases both unity and diversity.
This is a demonstration of God's wisdom. Imagine He gave one individual all the gifts to serve Him fully! We would all go out on our own without the need to serve other believers. Limited giftedness ensures loving fellowship and effective service. God has even given the least public and dramatic believer gifts that every other believer needs.
Anything anyone can do is grace. Therefore believers can appreciate that the greatness of their figt does not mean they are great people.
Jesus is seeh here as a great military champion, who, after defeating His enemies leads away captives behind Him. Not only that, but He showers gifts on them.
In order to give you your gifts, the glorious Son had to become a servant, before being exalted again. Your gift cost Him. Your gift was given for His exaltation. He will evaluate the way you have used His gifts. He will reward His people by grace and for His glory! What a guarantee!
