Salvation has always been by faith. The Law was given to God's chosen people, the Jews, as a way to govern their conduct and in their failure to obey, reveal their sin. In revealing their sin, the need of salvation was made all the more clear. The man Abraham was declared righteous by God before the Law was ever given on the basis of His faith in the Word of God, specifically the promises made to Him of a land, a seed, and a blessing to all people. Everything God has promised He will do and carry out to the full extent, just as He has said He will do. Gentiles benefit from the promise to Abraham as God said and in doing so do not replace, cancel out, or nullify the promises to Abraham's descendants.
