A lot of questions swirl around the subject of spiritual gifts. What are the distinctions between spiritual gifts and natural talents? Are they one and the same? How are spiritual gifts distinct from areas of service? Jesus Christ, as the head of the church, determines the sphere of ministry where we use our gifts. How are spiritual gifts related to spiritual power which comes from God? Is it possible to use our gifts under fleshly, carnal power? And then how are spiritual gifts to be distinguished from the fruit of the Spirit? Which are more important when it come to ministry? And then the sermon closes by clearing up two misconceptions. First, the lack of spiritual giftedness somehow negates our general responsibilities and roles as Christians. We are all to be witnesses for Christ; but now all of us have the gift of evangelism. We are all to show mercy, but not all of us have the gift of mercy. The second misconceptions that the possession of a spiritual gift somehow negates the need for preparation and hard work. Can you just "wing it" instead of preparing ahead?
