The Bride has confessed in verse 10 that her beloved is white and ruddy and Chief among ten thousand to her soul. Now in these verses she is going to go on and describe Him in much greater detail to the Daughters of Jerusalem. Whenever a believer would speak about their Savior and Lord they should begin where the Shulamite begins. She begins by speaking of her experience of beholding the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. It says in 2 Corinthians Chapter 4, and verse 5 – “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake.” “For it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” This is what the Shulamite is describing here in verse 11. She first describes the beauty and glory of Christ's head, then secondly she speaks of the beauty and glory of His locks. It is her experience of these two things that we want to think about this afternoon. And we will want to ask ourselves whether her experience of Christ is something that is matched in our own experience of Him.
