INTRO: We have begun the second unit of Scripture in the practical section of the letter to the Ephesians. Paul began this new section on how the Christian is to walk like this in verse 17:
17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,
18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
All of that we considered in some detail. Unbelievers walk in the futility of their minds. That is because they have stored bad things in their mind and constantly think on those things. This causes darkness in the mind. We are to walk in the light. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5:
