I. Exposing the deeds of darkness *We must not only NOT participate in deeds of darkness; we must expose deeds of darkness.
II. Disgraceful things done in secret *Some things the wicked do and say are too shameful to even talk about; The Bible uses words to describe certain wicked behaviors -- such as homosexuality -- but it does not go into detail about the specific prurient acts that are committed. Neither should we. Such conversation, even if the motive is to show the ugliness of the sin, is inherently defiling.
III. A thankless job *God is intent on exposing the secrets and evil deeds of men, and we are called to be imitators of Him *Scripture includes a long line of men who exosed the evil deeds of their generation, and were not thanked for it: Jeremiah; Elijah; John the Baptist; Jesus; Stephen; the apostles, etc. *We need to recognize that we will not be appreciated for exposing the evil deeds of others.
IV. Awake sleeper *We were once alseep in sin, dead in sin. God came to us and woke us up and shone the LIght upon the darkness of our hearts. Inexplicably, due to His grace, we responded not according to the customary way. Ordinarily, we fled from the Light and hid in the darkness from the Light. But when God's appointed time came, we came to the LIght, willing that our deeds be exposed. Willing that our nakedness be revealed. Coming to HIm, we longed to be clothed with the robe of Christ's righteousness.
