tonight, I want us to look into Matthew 4:1-11 and be reminded “Good News: There are No Shortcuts.” Satan, the Old Serpent, came to Jesus with the desire to persuade him to take a shortcut. Satan tempted Jesus to bypass the cross. However, the cross was God’s plan for Jesus. Tonight, you may be here and lost. You want to be saved, but you do not want to humble your heart before God. There are no bypasses to salvation. Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” There is only one way. You might be here and be tempted to bypass some situation in your life. I talk with men and women often who have taken detours or bypasses in dealing with problems. We can’t ignore the truth and expect to get anywhere.
